FTTC Problem with modem

I think the BT Openreach modem is overheating. It's ok when I first turn it on, it connects and works fine. But after about 5 or 10 mins it loses connection and the DSL light goes off. It flashes the DSL as it reconnects, but then about 20 0r 30 seconds it loses connection again. How easy will it be to get another one to try.
Would I be best opening up a ticket for it?
Kevin.

Re: FTTC Problem with modem

Can anyone from PN give me an indication of when the new modem will be sent?
I'm still only able to connect for 10 mins before the modem gives up and just constantly loses sync and never really gets sync back.

Re: FTTC Problem with modem

This is going to involve an engineer visit to replace the modem.
If not already on the ticket, have you supplied general availability?
Engineers will be Monday to Friday, 0800 to 1300 and 1300 to 1800.

Re: FTTC Problem with modem

I know it's short notice, but I can do tomorrow Thurs 2nd afternoon. What's the likelyhood of that being possible?

Re: FTTC Problem with modem

Possible and impossible in equal measure.
If you can update the ticket with that, I will see what can be done

Ok, I've done that, plus put an alternative of Tues 8th in the morning.
Thanks.

Re: FTTC Problem with modem

The man from BT has been and swapped the modem and all is working great again. Grin
However.....  the new one feels just as hot and the smell from inside doesn't fill me with confidence! Cry
But we'll see, at least I know how to keep it going, just have to buy a quieter fan or I'll go deaf.

Yes, it's the Echolife modem.
Smell is not as bad as it was, but still too hot for my liking......

Mounting it on the wall to improve the ventilation should help. I haven't got round to that yet but I've only had it for 4 months Smiley
