Exactly that. If BT are having to replace a lot of modems they will be seeking compensation from the supplier and/or looking for a new supplier/product.
Personally I shall be looking after my modem very carefully until I hear that a more reliable replacement is available. In practice this means that it will be kept in sight on a shelf although I really want to tuck it away out of sight in a cupboard.
