Another to drop the phone line please

Hi, I've tried and tried to get some sense out of the telephone help desks but they insist I can't drop my phone line and keep the fttp broadband, and don't seem able to put me through to an fttp specialist. I hope someone here might be able to help?

I've got two fttp lines installed (one to home and the other to the office). I'd like to drop the phone line at home initially, to move to voip, see how it works out, and then possibly change the one in the office if it all runs smoothly.

Please can a PN expert get in touch to arrange this? I'm banging my head against a brick wall with the phone team!

thanks,

Olivia

Re: Another to drop the phone line please

Hi @oliviacooper  Im sure one of the PN help team will be along shortly to help with this. The normal customer support personnel have very little experience of FTTP (as you've discovered).

I'd like to drop the phone line at home initially, to move to voip, see how it works out

One thing to be aware of here, if you wish to port your number to voip. Then you need to do that with the voip provider whilst the line is still active. If you cease the line first you will lose the number. Porting the number to voip will automatically cease the line but you still need to ensure that someone from the PN help team is onboard to ensure that the cease doesn't affect your FTTP.

Re: Another to drop the phone line please

Hi Olivia.

I'm sorry to see the difficulties you're having when requesting your phone service to be ceased on FTTP. I'd recommend contacting your new VoIP provider to request your number is ported out.

When they've confirmed the port date, if you can reply to this ticket or send me a private message, I'll keep an eye on your account to ensure that it changes to the appropriate fibre package without a phone service which is £2.50 more.

I've also added more information to the ticket I've linked above.

Once that's been done if you're wanting to do the same for your business line, it'd be the same process.

Hope this helps.
