Re: 80/20 Trial Speeds

I'm finding that speedtest.net has given very inconsistent (and low) results for the last 2 evenings on my FTTC connection. The BT beta speed tester seems to be more consistent.

Re: 80/20 Trial Speeds

Wow - I've recently been included in the fibre trail and I'm ultra-impressed with the fibre speeds!

To think this time last year I was on ADSL2+ @ 900kbps down / 350kbps due to my line length!

Re: 80/20 Trial Speeds

I've had some issues tonight,  or should I say,  Plusnet have..
I was getting woeful and inconsistent speed results on speedtest.net ranging fro 8mbps to 20mbps, with pings consistently over 40ms
The BT speedtester ranged from 30mbps to 43mbps.
After disconnecting and reconnecting  (switching from pcl-ag01 to ptn-ag02) the results were more stable around the 73mbps range with pings less than 20ms! with the latest being...

Re: 80/20 Trial Speeds

My speeds are still pathetic and are very inconsistent, between 22-28 down and about 5-5.5 up, very poor Cry

Re: 80/20 Trial Speeds

Very happy with PN been on the trial quite a while download stayed the same as 40/10 but my upload went from 1.7 to see below
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1970751054.png
The cabinet i am connected to is around 800 mtrs  away.
if the price increases for 80/20 ill probably revert back as only the upload is faster.

Re: 80/20 Trial Speeds

Have been on the trial quite a while theese are my results
Download speedachieved during the test was - 21 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 12 Mbps-31.23 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 31.23 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 5.22Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps
When on the 40/10 download was similar upload was 1.7
so im happy with the upload speed but is an ip profile of 31.23 down normal or acceptable the cabinet is 8-900 mtrs away.

Re: 80/20 Trial Speeds

Hi dirtyh,
it is very likely that the maximum sync speed you can achieve (due mainly to distance from the cabinet) is below the maximum for the 40Mb service, in which case you will not gain anything by raising the sync speed cap from 40 to 80Mb/s.  As your previous upload speed was around 1.7 I'd guess you were on 40/2 (standard for Plusnet) rather than 40/10, your line is clearly OK for well above 2Mb/s on the upload.  You would probably get exactly the same on 40/10.
