unlimited fibre extra

hi, today my cabinet was activated much to my joy, but after going to the plusnet site and also checking with a few other providers it would seem that I can only order unlimited fibre which is up to 38mb download and 2mb upload. I honestly thought that all cabinets would offer speed up to 76mb so I'm a little puzzled right now.
I ran the bt availability checker and these are my results. also on the bt site they allow me to order the 76mb package, anyone know why?

Re: unlimited fibre extra

Maybe because your at the low end for potential DL speeds?  If its close to 40mb they might refuse to accept the 76MB order.  Maybe go to live chat for a quicker answer Wink

Re: unlimited fibre extra

already phoned plusnet, bit disappointed to be honest, just wondered if it would improve. don't want to sign up to one package if in a couple of weeks a better one arrives.

Re: unlimited fibre extra

I believe BT Retail do a 38Mbps/10Mbps FTTC service while Plusnet have followed TalkTalk and only offer 2Mbps upload on their 38Mps download package.
Plusnet use the lower speeds for any offer, as you have found out, to try to avoid any miss selling issues.

Re: unlimited fibre extra

It seems daft to me but since the low estimate for your line is 40Mbps, even if you are happy to pay the additional cost of the 76/19.5Mbps Unlimited Fibre Extra package Plusnet will not allow you to order it.

Re: unlimited fibre extra

bt will let me order the faster package they state my speeds as 40-60mb, talk talk will let me order the faster one but estimate 30-50mb. the guy I spoke to at plusnet said that they use the bt speed checker to determine packages, I know all the companies have had bad press because of people not been able to get 76mb so perhaps plusnet are offering the slower package because of that. been with plusnet for years but perhaps its time to make a decision.  Undecided

Re: unlimited fibre extra

I think upload speed is just as important as download speed these days and the 2Mb cap that plusnet now do on that package would be a deal breaker for me without hesitation.

Re: unlimited fibre extra

Plusnet have a problem where their estimates are based on the low end of the estimate not the top end which is stupid it prevents plenty of people being able to order the Extra package when their line could very well be capable of it, no one knows exactly what a line can get until it's connected up and fibre running on it yes it's a estimate but the estimate should be looked at positively not negatively it's time Plusnet sorted it out other ISP's don't do this neither should they.

Re: unlimited fibre extra

I'm surprised that even if you call them they won't let you order it?
