Re: stuck IP profile- 38.71

The IP profiles are now showing:

IP Profile for your line is - 50.19 Mbps

Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps

but the account profile is still showing 44, and speedtest around 37 - does the profile need another nudge?

Re: stuck IP profile- 38.71

I'm glad to see your speeds have improved further.

I've given the profile on your account another nudge.

If you reboot your router you should see higher speeds, let me know how it goes.

Re: stuck IP profile- 38.71

thanks - after a router reboot, still seeing around 37 down - but I can see the account profile now matches the BT IP profile, so will that be because 37 is as good as it gets?

I assume the modem sync speed is currently 50?

Re: stuck IP profile- 38.71

@Gandalf  It's the same old story from PlusNet, I have said many times before, the GEA test profile data is almost always out of date, the line cannot be on 40/10 profile if the sync speed is 51.8 Mbps. The throughput speeds should be around 47Mbps so there seems to still be some problem with the plusnet profiles.

Re: stuck IP profile- 38.71

@RealAleMadrid, I actually received confirmation from our suppliers not long ago regarding that. Basically the timestamp only applies to the profile data, and to nothing else on the test.

With that in mind, it's obvious that the profile isn't restricting the speeds as the current sync rate is at 51.8mbps. As the profile is a lot lower than this, it's likely that the profile was since modified on the head end, but isn't yet reflecting on the test.

Also, the Plusnet profile is set at 50000kbps so this won't be impacting the throughput.

Re: stuck IP profile- 38.71

I'm still seeing speedtest.net results of 37 down, and the BT IP profile is showing as 50.19 down and 20 up - with my plusnet account showing 50.

Nothing seems to have changed at all since last Friday - but from the GEA output from @Gandalf previously, it showed the IP profile as banded 40/10 - is that still the case?  (I assume it is, based on speed test - but why is BT wholesale reporting it as 50.19 down 20 up?)

Re: stuck IP profile- 38.71

Our tests are showing you on an open profile now:

"0.128M-80M Downstream, Interleaving Low - 0.128M-20M Upstream, Error Protection Off"

But your sync speeds haven't changed from above. If you've done a speedtest and you're getting 50.19mbps then this would indicate you're getting the correct speeds? Feel free to post up a screenshot of the BTW speedtester results.

Re: stuck IP profile- 38.71

speedtest.net results:

2019-01-10_15-35-22.png

50.19 is what the down IP profile is showing on the diagnostics option on http://www.speedtest.btwholesale.com/:

So what / where is limiting it to 37 ?Huh

Re: stuck IP profile- 38.71

I guess it doesn't help that the BT speedtester is obviously giving an unreliable reading as evidenced by 102.12mbps. What are your speeds like at www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest?

Re: stuck IP profile- 38.71

Aha!

I just fixed it - entirely my fault - my router (A synology RT1900ac in case anyone else has a similar issue)

Ages ago I configured traffic control on the router - but didn't actually set any rules, other than configuring what my up and down bandwidth values were...

...which, for reasons I cannot recall, I had set to:

2019-01-10_16-04-34.png

I've disabled traffic control, and speedtests are now showing around 47 down - much more like it!

Apologies for being dumb @Gandalf, and with thanks for your assistance in getting the profiles nudged.
