speed dropped after 14 days cancelation period

speed dropped after 14 days cancelation period

hi after renewing my contract, the speed on the router was fine downstream at 38 Mbps and upstream at 8.7 Mbps, (I was told my line supports up to 45/42 Mbps downstream and 10/13 Mbps Upstream) and on the 15th day the speed dropped to 27/30 Mbps Downstream and 5.7/6.8 Mbps Upstream.

I should have gone with virgin media as I need faster broadband My kids are using computers to do live school Streams.

Re: speed dropped after 14 days cancelation period

Together with our network partners at Openreach we will try to provide you with the best speeds possible. If you feel this is not the case, please raise your speed fault online at faults.plus.net

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

Re: speed dropped after 14 days cancelation period

This is not the first time. There’s no speed fault here they just want us on the minimum or in some cases lower than the minimum, plusnet could have kept the sped at 38 Mbps because my line supports up to 45/42 Mbps down and 10/13 Mbps Up, but they didn’t for the first two weeks my hub connection was showing 38 Mbps and 8.7 Mbps

ISPs have no control over the physical rate your router syncs at with the cabinet. This would likely need to be raised with Openreach for an engineer.

I’m on the plusnet hub and its done purposely by plusnet, Because they just conformed it that they cannot end my contract

Re: speed dropped after 14 days cancelation period

Pretty sure that won’t be the case because they can’t adjust your sync speed. Wink other than moving you to another package but the figures you’ve given don’t suggest that to be the case.

Re: speed dropped after 14 days cancelation period

Been with them since 2014 they go up/down  1or2 Mbps, this time 8 Mbps, and each IP range have its speed range, I have done that at home for different devices.

That is not how the internet works.

Probably worth reporting a fault?

Re: speed dropped after 14 days cancelation period

hi today I switched off my rooter for some cable tidiness and Extension Lead with extra plugs and after reconnection the broadband speed dropped yet again to 22.38 Mbps D & 6.32 Mbps UP. Now don’t tell me that the Extension Lead had something to do with it.SpeedTest.jpg

Looks like you need to update yourself on networking. Anyone with server admin knowledge can do amazing things

Re: speed dropped after 14 days cancelation period

@ecrTech And you ned to stop spouting rubbish about Plusnet deliberately reducing your sync speeds, they can't and don't do that as @Thrall has been trying to explain to you. As for each IP range having a certain speed range, you cannot be serious.🙄

Re: speed dropped after 14 days cancelation period

If only I had plusnet server access, I would have made a spatial DHCP IP range with 1Mbps Down and 1Kb up for you M8

@ecrTech

Looks like you need to update yourself on the Dunning Kruger effect.

Glad you appreciated it @ecrTech

Regarding a post you made earlier,

You seem to have chosen the wrong word, so here's another pointer ...

What’s the difference between a router and a rooter?
