Hi.
After tidying up wiring and things, our line has been synced at 39,999 for a good while and with rock solid stability (anybody looking at stats, please note that the electric company turned the power off at 9am this morning until 1pm).
I have a static IP, I think I read somewhere that this has a bearing on a PlusNet speed cap.
The PlusNet portal says "
- Current Line Speed (Download): 36.6Mbps"
also BT says the IP profile is 37.5Mbps
I have never managed to get more than ~36 through the line even when synced at 39,999, so I think these caps and profiles are losing me approx 10%.
The attainable rate is actually about 42 megs, but I seem to be on a 40 meg package, there was no option for a 'Fibre Plus' or 80 meg package when I ordered and there isn't an option to change to that, that I can see.
It's possible that if I was put on to an 80 meg package, and the DLM tried for a 3dB profile, I might even see 44 or more mbps.
Could somebody please look at my account and see if something can be done to improve it? I think the line exceeds Openreach's expectations. We moved in here at the end of October and ripped out loads of internal wiring. It was like a 1970s hotel!

If you're only seeing a max attainable of 42mb on a 6db profile, I'd expect you to
OK. If that's the case, it would still be nice to just get the 39,999 that the line is synced at with the current profile. i.e. raise the IP profile and remove the plusnet 36.6 cap.

@carl0s You are on a 40/10 connection, you are at the full sync speed and moving to fibre extra will not get you much above 40 Mbps. You are actually getting just about the best speed you can. The IP profile is always less than your sync speed and the maximum throughput is always a bit lower than that because of internet protocol overheads. The only thing I can see that is reducing your throughput by a few percent is that you are on retransmission high, that is the highest level of G.Inp error correction but it is not easy to change that as it is all set by the automatic DLM system. Plusnet have no control of that.
In summary you are getting as good as it gets😀
