just checked the phone line and it is dead so would that be cause of lost speed

no internet this morning 

then the phone rang so it was working

a few mins later the openreach engineer turned up and he said the wires were corroded  at the cabinet and snapped as soon as he touch them so that's been sorted

speed back up
