psn speed

What throughput do people get downloading of PSN?
is kind of annoying to have a 70mbit+ connection and throughput maxing out at about 10mbit/sec.

Re: psn speed

I get about 55/8 mb but peak times it can be slower.
This is probably due to limits / demand on the Sony side though.

Re: psn speed

I've never seen full speed on our ps3, I think the best i've seen is 18/4 Lan or wifi, but then again.. the wifi only runs @54mbps
What is that about 2.5mbps stream... hmmm.

Re: psn speed

mine was flatlining at 10mbps, using asuswrt to watch it, its via ethernet.
Disappointing, whilst on steam last night I downloaded final fantasy 13 at line speed a 60 gig game, so psn seems behind the times, unless its a peering issue.

Re: psn speed

That was an iplayer stream, in comparison a standard youtube stream for me would be around 10mbps, thats over wifi!

Re: psn speed

Can't comment on the PSN but I did get the latest BF4 patch on the PC the other week, I was smiling when I saw what I was getting it at!

Re: psn speed

I never get full speed on PSN PS3 is worse than PS4 despite both using ethernet, however Steam and Origin both download at full speed so i know it's not something at my end causing the issue, I can only guess that Sony limit bandwidth on their network or as mentioned maybe a routing thing hard to say, I have tried port forwarding etc but it makes no difference.

Re: psn speed

well out of curiosity I added one of my proxies to my ps3 and bam suddenly games come down at 40-50mbit instead of 5-10mbit, whats going on with the direct routing?

Re: psn speed

I dont have a ps4 but on the ps3 you do it by choosing custom network settings, and flick through the questions it gives you, one of them it asks if you want to use a proxy and then allows you to enter the details.
Absolutely huge difference in performance using my proxy, it looks like either poor peering or some throttling of PSN going on.
