port forwarding

I have a pfsense router using pia vpn for all my out going apart from one server that skips the vpn and goes out direct.

I need to forward a port to server port 53 for dns reasons but it will not work. I saw I had the plusnet firewall enabled in my control panel which blocks port 53 so i set it off. But still no joy. How can I be certain the plusnet firewall is off as I see a few posts where it has been unreliable at best. Or any other pointers where i could be going wrong. I have added the portforward in pfsense as it should be and it has created the correct firewall rule

Would there be some thing in the BT fibre box blocking things maybe ?

Have you restarted the router since switching the firewall off?

yes I have but pretty much straight away after switching it off. I wonder if there is a delay ?

sorted i restarted it again lol must have been too quick first time
