plusnet transparent proxy?

Today I started noticing some pages hanging strangely.
Then tried a url directly and it times out, however the error page wasnt my browser but a web cache from plusnet.
Note this error message.
"Generated Thu, 02 Apr 2015 10:25:30 GMT by pcl-iwfcache04.plus.net (squid)"
what gives?
the url is http://cloud.directupload.net/plugins/imageviewer/site/direct.php?s=1iTQ&/e70a04d6e95a97a2ebe4df412f... which loads fine when not loading via plusnet.

Re: plusnet transparent proxy?

That's the Internet Watch Foundation proxy server that is generating that error.
It's possible that the IP address that the file is originating from is on the black list, either though an error (happens a lot - especially with file lockers) or because it has been flagged as illegal content.

Re: plusnet transparent proxy?

Not necessarily down to that one image, as cloud.directupload.net doesn't load at all for me, but directupload.net does.
Similarly the other sites you said all load perfectly for me.

Re: plusnet transparent proxy?

If those three are all getting routed through the proxy cluster I'm not entirely surprised that it struggled. Not ideal but nothing untoward, just a rarity that all of them appear on the list at once.
I wouldn't be surprised if other ISPs with IWF filters had some issues - Virgin Media are famous for them.

Re: plusnet transparent proxy?

I'm having issues as well - trying to load images such as http://s18.postimg.org/3wa54n0qh/Screen_Shot_2015_04_02_at_16_15_50.jpg
I've confirmed that I can view the images when I try using RDP to a desktop in the office (they are not on Plusnet) so the postimg.org server is fine.
I've rung in to report the issue.

The offensive imageS? This is exactly why the internet should not be censored/filtered, over blocking ? very lame and a massive FAIL!

Re: plusnet transparent proxy?

Well yeah its common knowledge its trivial to bypass the IWF yet its still here.
Currently browsing with a socks, as these issues cause firefox to just hang in the middle of loading pages, when people have sigs etc. using these hosts.

Interesting that the link also works for me in Opera Turbo, but not anything else .... Anyway, I'm looking into it for you.

Re: plusnet transparent proxy?

Doesn't opera go through its own cache with certain settings?

Re: plusnet transparent proxy?

guys if you cant/wont fix it can you at least set the timeout to something reasonable like 5-15 seconds, currently it sits there for THREE minutes before failing.
