When it disconnects try switching the power off, leave it a couple of minutes then switch it back on again. If it's previously booted up in a strange manner this may fix it.
If this fails try a factory reset by pushing in the hidden button found probably on the back with something like a paper clip. Hold the button for at least 20 seconds and then let it restart. Depending of which router you have you may need to re-enter your sign up details after a factory reset - it depends on whether you needed to do this when you first connected the router.

Thank you for the advice - but now, still disconnecting after re-powering and factory reset 😞
