Re: new gea test please

In the meantime, I also notice few other ISPs has the line capped at 79999kbps but getting throughput speed of nearly 76Mbps, while PN only getting no more than 75Mbps max. Because other ISP's doesn't have their own IP Profile set at 78Mb at their end, which PN do. The other's ISPs told me ages ago they don't believed to have the feature of capped IP Profile at their end but leave it to BT's side - Bras IP Profile of it own. But it's very true no FTTC throughput speed cannot go faster than 76Meg even if the sync rate are at 78Meg or 80Meg etc.

The only faster to get 80Mbps throughput speed is when Openreach capped the sync rate at 84000Kbps with IP Profile of 81219Kbps.

Re: new gea test please

@ejs Can you tell which Draytek modem model is more suitable for FTTC SNR tweak? So, I can check it out myself.

I just read all 4 pages about SNR tweak via Draytek Modem https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/draytek-vigor-130-and-fttc-snr-setting-increased-sync.1879.... It's very risky to do it. Best to leave it to the DLM do the job proper to stable the line.

Re: new gea test please

I thought all the current Draytek models are quite similar regarding DSL functionality. The same thing could be done on any device based on the Lantiq chipsets, but apart from the Drayteks, they tend to require unlocking in some way, and it's not easy to unlock the Openreach ECI modem.

I think that is just Plusnet omitting some of the lines of the GEA Test results which are of no interest.

Re: new gea test please

I think must be someone turn off their modem or router so I am in much luck now Smiley But I forget to leave it off for 30 minutes to avoid DLM trigger but I think one swap over won't harm!

Re: new gea test please

do u think bt will increase speeds beyond 79999 are there any plans in doing this anytime soon ? as people have a higher attainable rate on the upload and download would be a good idea wouldnt it ?

Re: new gea test please

We've no news to share on our plans to offer more than 80mbps.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

Re: new gea test please

Ok mate maybe put it in that to do list loool would be nice to put the lines at there full potential instead of capping it at 80 if the lines could handle more why not use it and charge people maybe a bit more especially now virgin are increasing there networks it just seems it would make a lot of sense to me and I'm sure other people would agree

Re: new gea test please

I agree but sadly it down to openreach and bt wholesales set the maximum speed for fibre for all ISPs are 80Mbps cannot go higher than that. Nothing that plusnet can do about it.
