new customer - no internet at all - flashing red light - setup email address in settings

Hi All,
I've recommended a friend to plusnet and they've just called me, trying to get their connection going and can't. They just get a red flashing light on the PlusNet router.
I've talked them through getting into the settings and they sent me a screenshot, which shows very little sign of life and under 'broadband usename' it says "setup@plusdsl.net"
I got them to reset the router. Nothing changed. I got them to manually enter their usename and password. They still have a flashing red light and no connection.
They aren't a member of the forum so I said I would ask about it. They are going to call in the morning but I hoped someone from Plusnet might be around now and could check their line / settings etc and maybe sort out tonight. Let me know if so, and I can PM you their usename and account address etc.

My friend spoke to Plusnet on the phone this morning. Apparently there is a problem with the line in the green box outside the building. They aren't the only ones who have had issues. BT are going to look at it between tomorrow and Wednesday.
Seems odd that BT came to turn on the broadband at my friend's flat just a few days ago, and this problem has happened now. I wonder if whoever turned it on, did something wrong and caused this problem...

Quick question -
My friend has been waiting for this phone line and broadband to be up and running since the start of October. And neither yet work.
Should they be getting a refund on the line rental for this time?
Nothing has worked and they've not used the service and can't even move fully move into this new flat until it is up and running, as they need phone and internet for work and are doing that from home currently.

Refunds generally aren’t automatic but if your friend asks for a refund once the service is fixed, they’ll normally provide a pro-rata refund to cover the time they’ve paid for a service they’ve not had, normally starting from when they’ve reported the problem to Plusnet.
