Re: latency spikes every few seconds

Yup, I've been getting the same recently. It'd be worth opening a support ticket for this.

Hi @Les872 , thanks for your post.

We're sincerely sorry to hear of your latency issues.

As we're not detecting any kind of issue, we'd recommend starting with basic checks here.

It's likely you may have already been through the above, if so, please let us know.

Re: latency spikes every few seconds

Hi @Les872,

Thank you for confirming that you've been through the troubleshooting checks. As it's an intermittent issue, our tests aren't picking this up at the moment.

Next time that the problem occurs, please run the BT Speedtester service at http://speedtest.btwholesale.com

Once the initial result is completed please click Further Diagnostics.  Please type in your phone number and click run diagnostic test.  This will run a test and send the results to the server for investigation. Please get back in touch on here once you've done this and we'll be able to investigate this further for you with the results of the performance test.

Re: latency spikes every few seconds

Ive been Getting connection drops for a number of weeks now and today my connection is getting worse lag spikes ALL day  ive tried all the suggested fixes but nothing works. The fact they claim ive had one drop in 10 days proves they have no idea whats going on because believe me its happening on a daily basis. Im at the point now where im thinking of changing suppliers because its getting silly.

Re: latency spikes every few seconds

My pc can only be connected by cable so I don't know if its affecting wifi. here's some screen shots of when it was happening today while playing apex legends. further diagnosis didn't say anything useful.Screenshot_8.pngScreenshot_10.pngScreenshot_12.png

Re: latency spikes every few seconds

Thanks for posting those results, @Les872

The next time this happens, can you ping and traceroute www.bbc.co.uk and then post the results here so that we can see where the connection is hitting a barrier?

Best wishes

Dave

Here's some screenshots of when it was happening today, it isn't as bad as the spikes yesterday but they are there.

Re: latency spikes every few seconds

Thank you for providing us these traceroutes @Les872,

There appears to be some inconsistencies in latency, please raise a fault and let us know on here when you have completed it. If you experience higher latency results in the meantime, feel free to attach a screen shot to the fault ticket once you have submitted it.

Thank you.

Re: latency spikes every few seconds

Thank you for submitting the fault report @Les872,

I have updated the fault ticket requesting one last check and your availability for an engineers visit in case the problem persists.

The check includes ensuring that no other devices in your property are downloading / uploading while performing the trace route. I would also recommend closing any applications on your computer that are possibly downloading / uploading data.

When you have replied to the ticket, please reply on here so we can pick it up as soon as possible.

Thanks again.

Re: latency spikes every few seconds

I have done the test and sent the screenshots but its hard to test for latency when I'm not playing a game and seeing it.

The account is in my dads name I'm more experienced with internet stuff so I'm doing this for him, he doesn't like the idea of possibly paying £65 for an engineer to visit when we live in a block of disability flats and had nothing to do with the cabling and such, he would rather switch providers which would be cheaper and possibly fix the problem.
