what is it about 141.hiper04.sheff.dial.plus.net.uk that is causing > 70% packet loss?

2mb upload? that change was quite a while ago, surely it should be higher than that

There's nothing wrong, the unlimited fibre service is a maximum of 38Mbps down 2Mbps up.

Confusing as I'm unlimited fibre which prior to 1st Sept was 38/20 and now 55/10, with the usual "up to".

Yes it is confusing but you were on the legacy 38/20 service which was not sold after mid 2015 That has been changed to 55/10.

So what I have would then have become 38/2 again on the old network, will they have moved to the new network or still to move?

I downgraded from and 80/20 connection and whne I did this a couple of months ago the next lowest service was 38/2 (was hoping it was 38/10 but Plusnet no longer offered it)

And i have to say that now I've tried it I'm not that happy with it - over and above the packet loss problem that seem to have started fairly recently. Even though I've been a PN customer for donkey's years and have a line than can support higher speeds - (when on 80/20 was getting 76/18 ) - I got treated as a new customer when I downgraded - so much for loyalty
Definitely going to look at BT and others that can offer me 10 upload

Plusnet's migration to a new network is not going well. I've noticed packet loss and severe latency problems over the last 3 or 4 weeks, and these get worse during periods of heavy traffic, particularly around late afternoon/evening. I'm not surprised gamers are frustrated - it's bad enough just browsing and attempting to download mail. I've also identified a router on PN's network, which is routinely droping 75% of routed packets (note how similar the name is!). All of my traffic goes through this router, so I'm stuffed, but I suspect there are many other routers all doing the same thing - hence the numbers complaining in various forums. Take a look at the image attached. Plusnet, please fix this quickly or your customers will start to leave in droves!

I'm new to this discussion. I have been noticing connection issues on Plusnet. Running an mtr (traceroute) to google.com or duckduckgo.com I see this (also see attached image for another trace):

Notice the second column; 0% packet loss across the board, save for the plus.net server, in each case.
This is causing web pages to fail to load, streaming video to freeze up (and I'm doing nothing else with this fibre connection which could put strain on it) and other issues such as VPN connection drops (I've now given up using the VPN; all symptoms described are while I am not connected to the VPN).
This connection was only activated 6 days ago, and already I have these big problems.
Finally, searching online for 'plusnet packet drops' I see multiple reports of this issue (even citing the same server) from as far back as 2011. Is it worth even pursuing getting this issue resolved with Plusnet, or should I make use of my cool-off period now and switch to an ISP which hasn't suffered this issue for years?
