got a new vdsl router. help with connection speed issue

After going through 4, yes four 2704n routers and finding none of them fit for purpose in one way or another, I decided to get a TPlink W9880.
Just set it up and its connecting just fine.
My question relates to the speed.
On the router's status page it tells me.
Current Rate (Kbps) 8034 28175
Max Rate (Kbps)         8035 32931
What does this mean?  Have I been throttled somewhere or is this just some strange BT setting?
Speed test are showing 25.15 d/l speed.  line Estimater on BT is 33
plusnet status page states
Estimated line speed:
There's no speed estimate currently held on your account.
Current line speed:
26.2 Mb
Any tips?

Give it a few days to settle the line, the speed should increase.

Why should the speed increase after a few days?

Re: got a new vdsl router. help with connection speed issue

If it has been hit with multiple drops it will have dropped the line speed. After a couple of days at a constant speed it will start increasing again. Then the PN profile will match the BT one again and the speed will/should be OK.

What kind of Openreach modem do you have - the Huawei or the ECI?
The TP-Link TD-W9980 should have similar performance to the ECI modem, except that the 9980 with the latest firmware can support G.INP both up and down. Getting more detailed DSL stats out of the TP-Link is not particularly convenient.

99% of users aren't interested in the nitty gritty stats. I know I am not. The stats I get are good enough for me.

But yours are useless if there is a problem as they don't give any diagnostic information.  The full stats give a host of it. They would possibly show whether your confidence in the poster getting increased speed soon is justified or not. I'm far less sure about it than you were in your previous two posts.

Re: got a new vdsl router. help with connection speed issue

This is one of the reasons that I am currently sticking with the HG612 - the great stats from it. It has helped me diagnose several issues since I got it. If I was to take the plunge and get an all in one unit (which I am kind of interested in) it would be nice if it had as many stats as the HG612 Smiley
