Re: gea test to see how things are going

my line is synced at 80 meg what do these stats mean in my account shouldnt it read 80 meg ? is this why the throughput isnt correct or is this nothing to do with it ?

thing is i get decent enough throughput but at times its not brilliant so just wondering if there is something plusnet can do to increase the throughput your end so it reflects the 80 meg sync constantly and not just at times ?

Estimated line speed:80Mb (This may vary between 60Mb and 80Mb) - Checked on 2017-10-15 23:36:52Current line speed:77.8 Mb

current line stats

  Upstream Downstream
Current Rate (kbps) 20000 79987
Max Rate (kbps) 30575 86450
SNR Margin (dB) 12.5 7.6
Line Attenuation (dB) 19.1 10
Errors (pkts) 114 5

Re: gea test to see how things are going

You won't get any better speeds than that, when are you seeing lower throughput?

The PlusNet line speed is based on the BT Wholesale IP profile which about 97% of the sync speed so your real world throughput speeds will be around 74-75Mbps after allowing for network overheads. The 80Mbps sync speed will not be changing so there must be other reasons for the lower throughput you are seeing.

Re: gea test to see how things are going

ok m8 shame they dont set the ip profile to the actual sync rate also the speed decreases can happen at any time but more often than not in the evenings for whatever reasons who knows cheers anyways for reply

Re: gea test to see how things are going

Sorry to hear your connection is dropping.

We can see there have been a few drops as shown below

Our tests aren't showing any causes for this so if the drops continue we'd recommend raising a fault by going here

Re: gea test to see how things are going

No worries at all.

Unfortunately we can't re-open the ticket, would you be able to create a new one at http://faults.plus.net?

Let us know once you've done that referencing ticket 184575853 and we'll pick it up as soon as we can.

Re: gea test to see how things are going

I've checked the BRAS profile and it's set correctly:

"Current BRAS Profile (CVLAN Rate): 79756"

The speed profile on your account is set at 77.2mbps  which may be slightly limiting your speeds. I've bumped it up to 78mbps which is the highest it goes but it's possible it may drop down by automation.
