g.inp turned off on line, plus sync speed is progressively getting slower over time.

Instead of resurrecting a previous post, I'll link to it here:

https://community.plus.net/t5/Fibre-Broadband/Sync-speed-dropped-14th-December-with-no-real-reason-a...

I'm still seeing a progressive slowdown of my connection, latest now seems that g.inp has been disabled again on my line, LSYMB and INTLVBLOCK have also gone through the rough again, yet I've no idea as to why or what is causing this to occur.  There doesn't seem to be a massive number of CRC errors which I can see, nothing has changed with any equipment my side, everything is still connected the same, has not been moved about, nothing added or removed either, so I'm a bit puzzled why the speeds are dropping as they are.

Current speeds now is a sync of 49mpbs, with attainable sync being anywhere between 52 and 57mbps, SNR has also increased from Dec/January and is now averaging around 7/8dB.

Screen Shot 2020-09-14 at 11.28.26.png

I know previously, when this was happening, there was a line fault where the line comes into the property, and that the jelly connectors were all corroding.  Once they were changed, this helped to massively reduce CRC's on the line, and also brought my sync speeds right back up, but just to me feels crazy if this may be the cause again and it's a bit of a waste calling an engineer perhaps to just terminate the connection coming into my house again.

I've added the modem stats again though, but wondering if anything can be seen on the line which may give an indication?

Re: g.inp turned off on line, plus sync speed is progressively getting slower over time.

From what I can see, this all started to happen around April, as there is a 10mbps speed drop around that time, with an increase in SNR from around 5dB to 8dB

Hi @ErTnEc - I've run some tests on the line this morning. I thought I'd add the results here.

The profile is banded as you've mentioned, the router logs also backed that up with the current data rate stats it provided. I've arranged for the line to be reset as it's achieving the max sync rate the profile is capped to. Normally this takes a working day to go through, but this might be slightly longer given the weekend is approaching.

I've updated the open fault ticket here so this can be followed up: https://www.plus.net/wizard/?p=view_question&id=205883069

Re: g.inp turned off on line, plus sync speed is progressively getting slower over time.

Hi @WillF thanks for looking into that.  The line does appear to have had the reset applied on Friday just before 11:30, there were 4 LOS events according to my modem, and once it came back it's been syncing straight at 58mbps solid since:

It does appear that g.inp is still off on the line though, and since Friday I've only recorded 12 CRC errors (as listed above), as well as 6 NE ES, so does seem to be fairly stable.

However, speeds still appear to not be as fast as I'm now syncing, and checking it does say on the btwholesale speedtest site that my IP Profile is set to 47.37Mbps.  Will it take a bit longer for the IP Profile to update & match the current sync speeds?

Cheers

Re: g.inp turned off on line, plus sync speed is progressively getting slower over time.

RetxEnable 0 1 shows G.INP is active on the downstream, off on the upstream.
This is the default configuration for lines on a Huawei cabinet.

Upstream G.INP is only enabled if the upstream breaches certain error thresholds.

Re: g.inp turned off on line, plus sync speed is progressively getting slower over time.

So few weeks in now, over this time the speeds have gradually increased, and now seems that my line is now stable at around 65mbps sync (it did increase briefly at 68.5Mbps between 3rd and 4th of October), but other than that has been at 65 since the 1st of Oct.

One more question for now though, my IP Profile still appears to be set at 47.37Mbps.  Is there a timeframe at which this updates to reflect the new sync speeds on the line?
