Re: ffffeeeeedddddddd upppp slllllloooooowwww aaaattt ppppeaaaakkk tttimmess

The first two (or three) octets of the IP address are your subnet, so basically 209.93.x.x.

I'm on gateway pcl-bng01 at the moment, not sure if it might be related to gateway issues or ip issues.

Yes Plusnet do static IPs, you can get one by signing into the Member Centre and going to Add-ons. It's a £5 one off charge.

I have the HG612 3B BT modem (hacked, so that I can see the stats) with a 4th gen Apple Airport Extreme router. Also IP starts 51.9.

Have any of you tried changing gateway?

I have a static IP address and was showing packet loss from gateway pcl-ag07, changing to gateway ptn-bng01 removed the packet loss.

Gateway hopping does not seem to be an option for those of us on the new network. The IP and gateway are very sticky.

This is the problem, hence I'm moving to BT tomorrow, being stuck on a poor connection/gateway with no option of getting off it.

Re: ffffeeeeedddddddd upppp slllllloooooowwww aaaattt ppppeaaaakkk tttimmess

I am looking forward to athruntalan bt engineer outcome tomorrow. Can you keep us informed?

Must admit i am considering moving away from Plusnet because of this issue. I have switched off everything other than the router and modem today, wifi was turned off with no devices connected between 3.00pm - 4.30pm and the packet loss started to increase Sad

If it is REIN interference then its not this end of the line. During that time no electrical device was on.

I will. Having said that, switching back across to static ip and having the problem solved suggests strongly to me that the problem is with Plusnet's network, not on my end or locally. The evidence on the forums is mounting too.

shame you have to pay additional £5 a month for a stable connection. When it should be as standard.

Not per month, it's a one off fee. But yeah, I had this debate with customer support and they just wouldn't budge.

However, the static ip I had a couple of weeks ago degraded as well after having it for about a week, so I'm not entirely convinced it won't happen again.

A static IP is a one-off charge of £5, not a monthly charge.

Re: ffffeeeeedddddddd upppp slllllloooooowwww aaaattt ppppeaaaakkk tttimmess

Thought I'd come back to let you know, I had the engineer visit this morning, and confirmed there's no issues with the line. I've reported this to Plusnet, along with the fact that since swapping to a Static IP I've had no issues.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Re: ffffeeeeedddddddd upppp slllllloooooowwww aaaattt ppppeaaaakkk tttimmess

Thank you for getting back to us. Kind of confirms its more of capacity issue rather than local or network hardware issues.

If your static IP is not showing issues have you had a monitor on the line?

Re: ffffeeeeedddddddd upppp slllllloooooowwww aaaattt ppppeaaaakkk tttimmess

Capacity or routing issue, certainly.

Yes, I've been monitoring my traffic since early last week, and the static ip has shown none of the packet loss in the monitor that either of the other IP networks have.
