Why has my broadband speed halved this evening (7/1/19)?

I'd like to understand why my broadband speed has dropped from 30Mbps to 13 Mbps this evening?

I can't see anything that looks to be causing this. Your exchange BRAS speed is at 34.8Mbps and your router sync is at 35Mbps and the connection's solid and stable. I can't see anything that looks to be causing a problem. 

There's been quite a bit of usage this evening, just under 10GB with over the hours 5pm and 6pm and while that's nothing extreme, could it be possible your usage is is throttling the speed as it's using some of your available bandwidth?

Also interested in 10Gb of usage in an hour, which seems very high given nobody was streaming anything!

Did you have any devices connected to your router at that point which may have been doing an update?

Not that I recall, but who knows what Apple products do in the background!  I'll keep on eye on as seems to be ok this evening.

@Taylor09 If you have iPhones and iPads check if your apps are set for automatic updates in iTunes and AppStore settings. Some of the apps, particularly Apple ones are quite large downloads. The AppStore update section shows you recently updated apps too, so you might get a clue there.

If my sums are right the total capacity of a 35Mbps connection including overheads is 15.75GB per hour. Sorry to be an anorak and disagree but I would consider this a pretty extreme background task if a speed test was being done concurrently.
