Why did my speed go UP?

When I first moved to plusnet, my connection speed (as reported by my router) was something like 67meg. Over the next few months, it went down a bit (but still in the 60's): no big deal.

A couple of weeks ago, I spotted that it was now showing something like 72 meg, and now I see that I'm getting 74.44 meg!

I'm not complaining in the least, but I am intrigued why my line speed has improved so much....

Re: Why did my speed go UP?

I have also noticed my speed has went up a little.

I have now a sync speed of 77.17Mbps and get actual download speed of 74Mbps.

Re: Why did my speed go UP?

It's possible you've both been moved onto a 3dB target noise margin. Have a look at your router stats.

Re: Why did my speed go UP?

if you are on the 3db profile will be interesting to see what your stability is like going forward, mine is now rubbish, although right now hanging onto the connection by it's fingertips....

Re: Why did my speed go UP?

It looks like you're on the 3db profile.

Profile Name 0.128M-80M Downstream 3dB, Retransmission Low - 0.128M-20M Upstream, Retransmission Low

I'm glad to hear it's made things better for you.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.
