When is my line speed going to improve

I've been a Plusnet customer since March 2013 and the line speed has always been miserable. I understand that there are multiple factors that contribute to this many of which relate to the line, quality, distance and exchange but I really would have expected things to have improved over time.
They have not, so I would appreciate in knowing when they will before i start seeking alternatives.
On a good day, off peak, after 2am for example, i might get close to 10mb - 5 or 6 is more typical with 0.5 upstream.
Why does the BT site state that they can guarantee 16Mb, still very poor, but a marked improvement over what I experience now?

Re: When is my line speed going to improve

OK, I did that, and I don't know what he (man in chat) did but now the speed is 17mb, still poor in my view but a significant improvement over what it was and the UL is 3.5.
So, thanks Jim for the push, your assistance is greatly appreciated.
...and no thanks Plusnet for letting whatever you did go undone for so long until my patience finally expired and made some noise.
Doing me proud would be a proactive service....

If you didn't make noise why should PN bother doing anything? From their point of view you were happy with what you'd paid for.

Good customer service is proactive, you make my point for me.
Did I mishear the advert "We'll do you proud, well, so long as you complaint about not getting what you are paying for, otherwise we will keep our heads down and just take your money"
I'll be surprised, and horrified, if Plusnet agree with your view.

Re: When is my line speed going to improve

So, rather than bothering to make the system that automatically updates the Current Line Speed work properly, instead we can keep Plusnet staff busy asking them to update the Current Line Speed.  Crazy
No wonder why Plusnet removed the link to the Current Line Speed from the member centre.

Proactive processes cost money and PN is a low cost ISP. If you want a proactive ISP you need to sign up with someone like AAISP and pay the premium. I've been with PN for nearly two years now - the last six months out of contract so I could leave any time. When things are working they are great value for money and the staff who visit these forums do a good job considering.
But you shouldn't expect premium service levels when you're buying at the cheap end of the market Wink
