Quote from: benfranklin With the G.INP rollout having adverse effects on those users who are connected to a Huawei cabinet but have got the ECI Openreach modem, I thought it'd be interesting to find out roughly what proportion of users have got the unlucky combination.
Vote away!
Excuse my ignorance, but exactly what are the adverse effects and would they be short or long term.

Hopefully short term (but needs BT (Openreach) to fix (ECI Modem firmware presumably).
At any given moment in the universe many things happen. Coincidence is a matter of how close these events are in space, time and relationship.

The symptoms are increased latency, otherwise known as higher pings, and a loss of line speed. G.INP is supposed to do the exact opposite!
As for short or long term, well it can be short term if you're prepared to spend money on a properly compatible modem yourself. If not, it's currently a guessing game when or even if Openreach will do something about it.

Many people won't know whether their cabinet is ECI or Huawei. Is there a better way to tell than comparing your cabinet (if you know where it is) with these pictures?
