We are far below the 38/40Mbps promised

We get around 25/26Mbps more than one month after installation.  Is this normal?  Is this going to last or is this going to improve?

Re: We are far below the 38/40Mbps promised

I read:

'Your computer is directly connected to your modem/router via an Ethernet Connection (i.e. not via a wireless or powerline adapters). '

I don't have any Ethernet port on my laptop (Dell XPS 13)

What are the sync and max achievable speeds - available on the Helpdesk tab on your router.

Re: We are far below the 38/40Mbps promised

so you are connected at full speed so it is either a wireless problem or perhaps this is wrong https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed but it is more likely a wireless problem

Re: We are far below the 38/40Mbps promised

You may want to hide your username from that post, this is a public forum and you never know who might pick it up.

However from that picture, you are getting the speeds promised.

Testing via WiFi tend to vary due to many things that are outside PN's control, including distance from the router, other routers broadcasting on the same channels nearby and other sources of interference in and around your home. Have a look over on the help pages for ideas to help improve performance.

@Oldjim

I had occasionally up to 36Mbps after the first week and I didn't change anything for the wireless

@

Thanks for the tip.  I did hide it.  My laptop and router are on the same desk, a few inches apart.

We'd still recommend going through the advice posted as something may have changed in a nearby property that could be affecting your wireless signal.
