Very slow fibre upload speeds

My upload speed has dropped from a steady 17Mb/s down to 2Mb/s on a 80/20 sync rate.
Upload speed has been at 2Mb/s for a couple of weeks now. No changes have been made to my set-up.
In January I had slow download speed for two months until it was finally fixed by the Openreach engineer after three visits. I thought all was finally well and now my upload speed has dropped.
Can PN/ BT please investigate this ASAP as it is seriously affecting my internet experience especially streaming.

Re: Very slow fibre upload speeds

I can see you've raised a fault this morning but our testing isn't showing anything physically wrong.
You've mentioned your getting 2Mb/s which works out at around 16mbps.
At the risk of being pedantic are you sure you aren't getting your Mb's and Mbps mixed up?

Re: Very slow fibre upload speeds

2MB/s works out as 16Mb/s (exactly synonymous with 16Mbps), we don't use mbps as a lower case 'M' implies 'mili' rather than 'Mega' so that would be slower than walking there with each bit in your pocket.
Still valid to ask whether there could be confusion between 2MB/s and 2Mb/s just to rule out a possible error.

If you look again at my post you will see that the letter 'b' is lower case not upper case.
Surely 2MB/s is 16Mb/s
I am getting 2Mb/s upload speed down from 17Mb/s.

Re: Very slow fibre upload speeds

The tests picked up on a incorrect profile on the download which has now increased however aside from that the line looks perfect.
Your current profile is "0.128M-80M Downstream, Interleaving Low - 0.128M-20M Upstream, Error Protection Off" and your upload is syncing at 20mbps.
In addition the BTW speedtest you carried out gave you these results
DownStream 71010
UpStream 15600
What speedtest are you getting your results from?

Re: Very slow fibre upload speeds

I got my fibre installed today, and something seems very wrong with the upload speeds. I understand that speeds may be a bit variable in the first few days but this is hardly usable:
BTW test:
Download: 38.01  Smiley
Upload speed: 0.40  Sad
Ping latency: 19.63ms
The OpenReach engineer said my line was capable of 80/20.
I can't yet seem to log a fault on the fault logger.
Ironically, I got plusnet because of the 38/19 profile...

@rosslagerwall
Our suppliers haven't closed your order off yet so I can't test it at the moment but I'll try again later.
Was the engineer a Openreach engineer or a Kelly Communications engineer?

Openreach, I think. All he did was put a new Openreach faceplate on, plug in the Openreach modem, connect it to the router and it was all working, except for the upload speed. I am connected using ethernet.

BTW
Speedtest.net
thinkbroadband.com
The upload speed fluctuates between 2Mb & 16Mb.
What was the incorrect profile that you mentioned synced at?

I get 66/20 currently by BTW test never gets more than 3mbps on my upload, but others like speedtest.net and ThinkBroadband get the full 18.7mbps

I have tried several different speedtests and locations and never got more than 2mbps.

Re: Very slow fibre upload speeds

Oh OK... Well looks like you might need to wait for Openreach to close the order and then PLusnet can have a look and then if required rebook an Openreach engineer to visit and sort issue.
