Very odd issues with some services - specific apps not working

I'm having a very strange issue with my recently upgraded Fibre (went from 40Mbit to 80Mbit).

Since my upgrade completed certain apps have stopped working on my phones, tablets, smart tv and set top boxes. All of these apps work perfectly if I switch over to my 4G connection.  I also tested some of these apps at my parents house (also on Plusnet) and they worked there. These problems seem entirely limited to my home Plusnet connection...

Apps with connection issues

iPlayer - Works on my phone/tablet but not working on my Nvidia Shield

Netflix - Works on laptop/desktop browser not working on Sony Smart TV, Nvidia Shield, Phone/Tablet

Garmin Connect - Not working on phones

Flipboard - not working on Phones/tablets

eBay - not working on phones/tablets

All these apps were working fine the day before my line upgrade and now they are profoundly broken. Nothing else in my home network has changed. Problem persists across both LAN and WiFi connections.  Any ideas as to the cause? I can only imagine that it's a routing issue at Plusnet's end...

Re: Very odd issues with some services - specific apps not working

Hi lostdotfish,

I have a problem which could be related.  Whilst writing some software which uses an API on a server, I am getting an unacceptable level of packet drops or packet re-ordering.

(see https://community.plus.net/t5/Fibre-Broadband/what-is-an-acceptable-packet-drop-level-for-traffic-le...).

Basically, anything using an http/https API programatically is be affected with connection timeouts and data timeouts, but only to servers outside of plusnet's network.

It could be that the apps which 'work' are just better at recovering from these timeouts. (my browser is generally happy...).

If you are able to download wget and run a test against www.example.com/robots.txt, I'd be interested in the results from another plusnet customer....

best regards,

Simon

I also have a Netflix problem. Speed test shows 36, so Plusnet unwilling to help me, yet Netflix crashes or does not load. I need a simple solution... I am not a techie! help!
