Using an AC68U Modem Router on my VDSL2 FTTC and cannot find anywhere online the definite best settings for this. There are only a few published by those with some experience, and it seems that everyone has a personal version of what they feel is the best.
Is it not possible for PlusNet, BTO or ASUS to define and publish the optimum settings for this and all popular Modems?
Using the AC68U definitely gets a faster connection than using the supplied BTO Huwei modem. I cannot say if the BTO Modem is more stable since there is no log. If one tweaks, you find slightly faster or slower speeds, but risk DLM intervention. I had DLM intervention in the night that has slowed the maximum Up and Down speeds (shown on Router log) but left my actual connection at roughly the same speed (confirmed by BTW Performance Test and perhaps slightly reduced profile). I notice that the SNR has been increased and that the download graphic profile (as shown on OOKLA Speedtest) is very smooth, a solid bar rather than a mountain range.
Any thoughts? I have great difficulty coming to terms with a slowing connection, albeit perhaps a more consistent one, in fact, I don't think that I can ever come to terms with it. If it supplied 53Mbps why can that not be maintained, why is throttling back to 40Mbps good for the consumer?
