Just moved to 80/20 FTTC, with a Plusnet HubOne, and have connected to the master socket using the provided filter (all other extensions are fed from the phone outlet of that filter), currently getting 62/18/
Does anyone have any experience of whether fitting a "BT Openreach MK3" faceplate filter would make any difference (preferably a slight improvement!!!) ?

Have you tried plugging your router straight into the test socket ?
If you don't see any significant improvement, then a VDSL face plate probably won't make a big difference.
fwiw, if you are able to leave your router permanently plugged into the master socket, I would fit a VDSL face plate. Using microfilters are always a compromise.
