Upload speed dropped from 15ish to 2 happened in June

I am on Unlimited fibre and renewed this in Aug 2015 so was on the 40/20 and was told would carry on receiving this product, which i did up until sometime in June. Have searched the forums and some people were notified about increasing the download but limiting the upload this was not the case with me I didn't get that email nor did my download increase. I've tried to persevere with this but cant. I've also spoke to plusnet who have said its down to bt and they wont let me cancel without incurring charges although i feel like its not the product i agreed to therefore should be able to leave the contract without charges? What do you guys think?

Further investigation on these forums and it seems like a lot of people have had this and it all depends on when the contract was taken out. I renewed mine in Aug 2015 and received 40/20 for a further 11 months before my upload was capped to 2 hopefully this was done by mistake and someone can get me back on the 40//20 contract i agreed to

At best you will be moved to 55/10 like all 40/20 customers should have been, you'll never get 40/20 back.

Alas the cut off for those getting 55 10 was before August last year, June or possibly July I believe. So although they carried on provisioning 40 20 after that, it was not the product they claim they were advertising, and so people were put back on the 40 2 product.

Only those on 40 20 before June/July last year were put on the 55 10 product.

From what has been said, it appears that the renewal has been treated as a start of contract. If so, someone will probably check and respond tomorrow, hopefully correcting the error.

Thanks PeeGee but if that was the case why would it take 10months before they reduced my upload?? Also just checkedmy bills and been on unlimited fibre since early 2014

Just an update they are now saying when i renewed in August 2015 I agreed to downgrade from 80/20 to 40/2. Although this was not the case! and if i had agreed to downgrade surely they would of done it straight away?? not just downgraded my download speed and left my upload?

Plusnet did an audit of all their 40/20 contracts earlier this year when they decided to move the customers to 55/10 and at that time checked for any mistakes in earlier provisioning of 40/20. They have moved several people from 40/20 to 40/2 where they said the customer had agreed to contract down to 40/2.

Looks like you were caught in that audit.

Do you know if these people managed to get back on the 40/20? As i'm certain i did not agree to go onto 40/2
