Upload Speed is awful

Upload Speed is awful

For 24 hours we have had upload speeds of only 0.4Mbps with our fibre broadband.

Our download speeds are poor at 11Mbps.

This is with a wired connection, direct to the router.

We have the same poor connection with all devices in the house.

We have re-started the router and this has not made any difference.

Please help as this is very debilitating for our work.

Thank you.

Re: Upload Speed is awful

Hi @suz1tay

That does appear bad and you may well have a fault.

What are the expected speeds for the Openreach line to your house?

Enter your phone number into https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

And post back the results (minus your number).

You can initiate the fault report by following the troubleshooter at https://faults.plus.net

Follow the troubleshooting process and if the issue is not resolved, it will raise a fault with PN.

Regards

Richard

Re: Upload Speed is awful

Hi Richard,

Thank you for your help.

Attached is the report of the expected speeds.  I am guessing that it should be greater than 9Mbps.  It used to be around this level and higher.

I will let Plusnet know that there's a fault, via the link that you kindly sent.

Re: Upload Speed is awful

Something is not adding up.

The pictures show that the observed speeds (the speed the router is connecting at) are 62 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up.

You should be getting much faster upload speeds via the ethernet connection.

There are several possibilities, that will need checking.

How many people are using your broadband?

Could someone be uploading a lot of data?

Could you turn the WiFi off and all other devices, then re-test the speed via an single Ethernet connected PC?

Re: Upload Speed is awful

Thank you Richard.

We realised that we did not have a dialling tone on the landline.  We spoke to Plusnet (eventually) and they confirmed that the problem is external and Openreach will send someone out to solve it within 48 hours.

Thanks again.
