Upload Speed at 443 Kbps.

Hello

Joined Plusnet Fibre 30/12/15. Since then my downstream speed is much the same as my previous ISP, at about 7096, but upstream sits at 300 (give or take).

I 'chatted' about increasing US speed and was told I should be able to get a better speed, and to raise a ticket, which I did. Openreach engineers detected  a fault on the line and switched wires (I used to have two phone lines) Another visited the premises and checked from there and summarised as 'Good but slow'. Since then the upstream has been 443.

5. DSL uptime:0 days, 00:22:36
6. Data rate:443 / 7096
7. Maximum data rate:454 / 10339
8. Noise margin:6.3 / 9.0
9. Line attenuation:12.8 / 41.2
10. Signal attenuation:12.9 / 31.2

After one phone call and another 'chat' - no change.

With previous ISP I achieved 1.2-1.4 Mbps on upload (ADSL), so am I capped? I normally put an IP camera online, but  I'm struggling to send 320 x 240 video.

I have searched this forum and users seem to get a better response from Staff, here, than by phoning, so can my upstream be increased, please?

Thanks

Re: Upload Speed at 443 Kbps.

first thing is that you aren't on fibre or if you are something is even more wrong

second is that your upstream is capped and needs uncapping however I assume that the upstream noise margin is 9dB not 6.3dB - if it isn't there is something wrong

if you dial 17070 option 2 is the line quiet

Re: Upload Speed at 443 Kbps.

Sorry to hear your having issues.

As your line is over 2 kilometres from the cabinet the speeds won't be great but I'd recommend raising a fault here so we can look into this.

Re: Upload Speed at 443 Kbps.

Thankyou for for your reply. I am about 800m from the cabinet, so I was not expecting any major leaps from fibre anyway. (But will investigate this!)

The quiet line test is silent.

Here are stats just copied from router.

6. Data rate:455 / 7757
7. Maximum data rate:443 / 9821
8. Noise margin:5.4 / 10.6
9. Line attenuation:47.4 / 40.0
10. Signal attenuation:11.6 / 30.1

Re: Upload Speed at 443 Kbps.

quick check - what does this show BT Speedtester

click on further diagnostics and what we want is the upload and download ip profiles

EDIT - just saw Matt's reply so ignore the above

Re: Upload Speed at 443 Kbps.

BTSpeedtester:

7.29

0.40

60ms latency.

Further diags. gives same figures but adds: "however during the test an error occurred while trying to retrieve additional details regarding your service" (This happens evry time)

Thanks Matthew, I have raised a fault.
