Re: Upload Speed Increase

WOW Cool Cool they do listen then Thumbs_Up

At the moment, customers on this product can get upload speeds of ‘up to 1.9Mbps’ but we’re increasing that to ‘up to 9.5Mbps’, at no additional cost. Your download speed will also remain the same, but you should benefit from faster speeds when uploading photos and video to the likes of Facebook or sending emails.

New Plusnet Unlimited Fibre customers will start getting the faster upload speed from the point of sign-up, and we’ll also start to move our existing ‘up to 38Mbps’ customers to the faster upload speed from November.

Re: Upload Speed Increase

bloody heck - that is a surprise

I wonder if it is worth calling Customer Retentions to see if I can get the same discounts on 40/10 as I have on 80/20

Connection speed (kbps): 48789 8721
SNR margin (dB): 3.4 6.2

@bmc

Nope, you're not the first to notice it. I left a reply under it.  Thumbs_Up

Re: Upload Speed Increase

Not bad but was told on the phone that existing ‘up to 38Mbps’ customers to the faster upload speed from November would mean anytime from November until April. Because they can't put everyones straight away. So, my parents have to wait anytime from November to April for 10Mb upload on their fibre 40/2.

@goldenfibre

And that's the part I don't understand. New customers go on it straight away...while existing ones have to wait.  Undecided

Re: Upload Speed Increase

I noticed it last night before it was posted. When I was in the middle of changing my product from UF to UFE based on finally being able to cast off the 1.9 limit. Seems I got caught in the twilight zone and almost got an extra £5 on my bill for 18 months.

Luckily I could still roll back and I'd like to thank the team at plusnet both for helping me cancel my product change but also for rolling this much needed change out!

perfectly reasonable question, it's simply because 38/9.5 is a different product at a wholesale level. When we order fibre from our suppliers in the future we will be ordering the 38/9.5 variant as there is no point ordering the 38/2 one and changing it after. This leaves us with existing customers who are on the 38/2 product, we will be migrating these to the new faster product in batches and this will start in November.

Hope that clears things up

Re: Upload Speed Increase

@JonoH

Thanks for the explanation, but it leaves another question. You said it's 38/8..while it states that the increase should see 38/9.

Are you keeping that other 1 for your secret stash?  Grin Surely it should be 38/10.

We advertise this speed at 38/9.5 so I've edited my post to show that.

Re: Upload Speed Increase

So they've finally decided to play catch up and follow TalkTalk then.

Trouble is 38/10 is starting to look woefully inadequate these days, especially considering BT are in the process of upgrading infinity 1 customers to 80/20 (all those who's lines will support higher speeds)
