Originally signed up to 40/20 - and received very close to those figures.
Start of August, speed changed to 52/10 (remembered email saying this would happen).
One week later, d/l speed drops back to 40 (figured PN would fix it eventually).
Today, I receive the following email
The order we placed to change your upload speed has completed.
Your upload speed is now 2Mbit/s.
Checked speedtest.net and sure enough, 1.88 Mbps is my current u/l speed.
Two simple questions -
1) Why is my u/l speed now 10% of what it was a month ago?
2) What happened to the promised 52Mbps d/l speed?
speedtest.net
05/09/2016 1:45 PM 37.65 1.88 17
29/08/2016 8:54 PM 37.92 9.48 18
14/08/2016 7:05 PM 37.76 9.30 18
10/08/2016 9:19 PM 51.77 8.74 19
Fixed! Go to the fix.

It looks like they have put you on to the 40/2 product. When did you sign up to the 40/20 one. PN are saying they stopped selling in the middle of last year, and only those on 40/20 before the date were put onto the 55/10.
Others were wrongly provisioned on 40/20, those were reverted to 40/2 - so depending on when you signed up will depend if they do anything or not.

Sorry to see your speeds have been dropped. I believed this may have been triggered in error when you recently re-contracted.
Leave this with me and I should be able to get it corrected within the next 24-48 hours for you.
Apologies for any inconvenience.

@bartxp Could you try a disconnect and reconnect and let me know if your speeds are back to normal please. I think it may be corrected now.

I thought I'd tag my first query onto this one, since it is related. I only transferred to Plusnet Fibre Unlimited on Friday (from Sky) and have seen a reasonable download speed equivalent to Sky, perhaps a smidgin slower at present, but with an upload speed of only 1.8MBPS. I saw nothing in the joining details that said upload speeds would be capped, which is a bind since I occasionally upload large quantities of data (photo society images) and was planning on offsite backups of some essentials, so being back to about 10MBPS as it was for Sky would be nice.
I can imagine that for most people this would never be a problem, but since large uploads of many small files is a process that needs monitoring and occasional intervention, speed makes things a lot easier in terms of time devoted to nursing an upload process.
Am I on a "wrong" contract or is this something that can be fixed on request? I sent in an email to the support address but it was bounced, which is a pity since I have problems using the phone.

From the numbers it looks like "40/2" - the trouble being that the "/2" wasn't mentioned. I've had no communications that spelled out a limitation on upload speeds, I just chose "unlimited" (not 80/20 or 40/2) and thought that's exactly what it would be! Feeling a bit short-changed about now...

Welcome to the forums @mage.
When selecting the package during the signup journey, the upload speed is advised:
Unlimited refers to the usage allowance (Or lack of allowance as it's unlimited) as opposed to 'unlimited speeds' sorry if you feel this was unclear.

I don't recall reading that, however if it was part of the process then obviously I was foolish for somehow overlooking it. Still feeling short changed though. Although the household as a whole is probably a "typical user" my emphasis is on uploads. I guess the next 18 months will go like, well, 2MBPS.

What download can your line deliver? If you can get more than 40meg you can switch to 80/20 but beware if your line is only capable of less than 40meg they won't let you sign up for that package to get the upload

The estimates for your line suggest you can get a much higher upload speed, so if upload is important to you it may be worth looking at our Fibre Extra product.
