Upgraded to fiber extra

Hi,

My adsl connection was upgraded to fiber extra a couple of days ago but I've been experiencing poor download speeds compared to my upload speed.

I've tried using a wired connection with a couple of different routers (Netgear D7000 and also the one supplied by Plusnet), and I also tried connecting to the test socket.

Stats from my D7000 router:

VDSL Link Downstream Upstream
Link Rate 48149 Kbps 16782 Kbps
Line Attenuation D0( 11.6) D1( 32.4) D2( 44.3) dB U0( 5.5) U1( 31.5) U2( 33.9) U3(N/A) U4(N/A) dB
Noise Margin D0( 6.2) D1( 6.2) D2( 6.2) dB U0( 6.2) U1( 6.0) U2( 6.0) U3(N/A) U4(N/A) dB
VDSL2 Profile Profile 17a

The actual download speeds are much lower as the following bt performance test results show:

Download Speed (Mbps): 8.15
Upload Speed (Mbps): 14.27
Ping Latency (ms): 14.88

I can't get the further diagnositics results because the page always reports an error has occured.

Anyway according to my connection settings:

Your Minimum Guaranteed Access Line Speed:54.9Mb

And from the data_transfer_speed page:

Estimated line speed:
80Mb (This may vary between 61.4Mb and 80Mb) - Checked on 2017-10-07 13:28:27
Current line speed:
8.6 Mb

Hopefully someone will be able to shed some light on why the download speed is much slower than the upload.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Upgraded to fiber extra

It's working much better now. I'm getting about 45Mbps down and 15Mps up.

Thanks for your help.
