so i was asked if i wanted to upgrade.

thought may aswell.

i have pictures of my speed before and now a week later

i have dropped download speed by 50% but have a slight increase in upload.

even my online portal says im at 50% below what i should get

this is not what the package offered.

how would i get this resolved please?

Re: Upgraded but speeds 50% dropped

Hi @marc2

There are a couple of self help steps you could take, to hopefully reveal what is going on:

Could you check the Routers modem statistics and post the connection speeds, line attenuation and noise margins figures?

If you are using a Plusnet Hub one router, I believe the stats can be found at: http://192.168.1.254, then click troubleshooting and then help desk.

Can you also check the Opencast estimates of their line plant to your house:

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

Please remove your phone number before posting a picture of the estimates.

Regards

Richard

Re: Upgraded but speeds 50% dropped

Hi

As your are using the Technicolor TG582n FTTC, you will have a separate modem.

These modems are usually locked and inspecting the statics is not possible.

However, the observed speeds from the ADSL availability are: 74 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up.

What was the speed reported in the Plusnet portal?

Do you have a static IP?

If so the Plusnet Profile could be limited your speeds.

Regards

Richard

Re: Upgraded but speeds 50% dropped

no i havent requested a static ip

Your broadband service

  • Product: Unlimited Fibre Extra
  • Estimated Download Range: 68 - 72Mbps
  • Estimated Upload Range: 17 - 18Mbps
  • Minimum Guaranteed Speed: 62.8Mbps
  • Current Line Speed (Download): 21Mbps

it was around 48 before the upgrade that has dropped me to 21

Re: Upgraded but speeds 50% dropped

May need a nudge from plusnets end, but have you tried dropping the connection for a few minutes and reconnecting might nudge the profile ?

Re: Upgraded but speeds 50% dropped

Plusnet staff are thin on the ground in the forums these days 🙁

Sad to say that if you are active on social media try contacting Plusnet that way.

If not brave the phone lines.

Not all the support staff know about the Plusnet profile as it is only relevant for those with a Static IP.

Re: Upgraded but speeds 50% dropped

Unfortunately plusnet staff do not frequent these forums very often of late, reply's to questions can take a few days
