Upgrade to Fibre Extra - no speed difference

I upgraded to Fibre Extra but have found no difference in speed whatsoever. Am I paying for nothing?

If you log into the member centre, what does it say here for 'current line speed'? https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed

Re: Upgrade to Fibre Extra - no speed difference

Is the IP Profile reported by the BT diagnostic speed test above 40Mbps? If not there is no point upgrading to Extra. The current line speed should be the same as the IP Profile.

Just in case you don't know it's this test: http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/
Run the initial test then select 'further diagnostics' to get information including ' IP Profile for your line is - ...'

Re: Upgrade to Fibre Extra - no speed difference

Hi emerald,
I can see that you've moved from Plusnet Unlimited Fibre (£19.99 per month) to Unlimited Fibre Extra (£19.99 per month). They're very similar packages and both have an up to 80mbps download speed. I can see that your current line profile is around 56mbps which is a lot higher than your estimate.
Hope this helps,
Aled

Re: Upgrade to Fibre Extra - no speed difference

Thanks for your comments. It was an upgrade offer which was sold to me as 'twice as fast'. I don't think this was accurate as we can see no difference.

Re: Upgrade to Fibre Extra - no speed difference

Could you run this speed test using a device that is using a wired connection to the router please: http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html
Also could you post the IP Profile reported by the BT diagnostic speed test please.

Re: Upgrade to Fibre Extra - no speed difference

Hey emerald,
Sorry if this is the case as you shouldn't have been told that. I've raised <a href="https://www.plus.net/wizard/?p=view_question&id=93134418">Ticket: 93134418</a> so that I can listen to the call for you and will be in touch there in a little while.
Thanks,
Aled
