Upgrade adsl to fibre - Router & outage questions

Hi,

Just had an email that we will be switched over from adsl to unlim Fibre extra "by midnight on Friday", and received a new plusnet Hub one router in post.

Q1 - how long an outage should I expect when the changeover takes place.  Working from home and need to advise contacts.  I guess it will happen when BT work in my cabinet but just hoping to find out if it's a few minutes or 1/2 day.

Q2 - Ordered in a hurry so I ticked to receive the Hub One router.  I'm currently using a re-purposed BT Home Hub 6 (picked up locally when virgin cable arrived).  Is the Hub One required or an upgrade to Hub 6, or can I just keep all as-is.

The chageover should be quick but I would warn your contacts that it might take several hours.

Seeing as the Plusnet Hub One is a BT Home Hub 5A with bodged firmware, using that is a downgrade, not upgrade.  With a bit of luck it should automatically pick up the change to VDSL. If it doesn't simply switch it off, leave it a minute then switch it back on.
