Unlimited Fibre to Unlimited Fibre Extra - no difference in speed

Hi,

 

I switched from Unlimited Fibre (Broadband Only) to Unlimited Fibre Extra (Broadband Only) yesterday. Received a confirmation email today that i have been switched but a speedtest via BT shows there is no difference!

Getting around 33mbp download and 1.7mbp upload - which is exactly the same as before the change.

 

I have turned off the router and modem for 10 minutes, turned on the modem, waited a few minutes and then turned on the router - tried the speed test again, no difference.

 

I was expecting between 70-80mbp download. If there is no difference in speed, what's the point of paying an extra £5?

Can someone at Plusnet please take a look?

What speeds do BT checker give you for fibre? Estimates

Thanks for the reply.

BT estimates 67mb to 80mb (guaranteed minimum 60mb) so I appear to be way off what I should be getting!

@furian It looks like the order didn't go through on our suppliers systems but I've replaced it for you and you should get higher speeds on the 19th.

Hi, can you tell me what's going on?

 

I have done a speedtest today: no change.

Just for good measure i have restarted the modem and router... no difference.

What does it say here under Current Line Speed?

@furian I've tested your connection and it's showing in sync at 80Mbps down/20Mbps up, and the speed profile is showing as 77.4Mbps Huh

As far as I can see the order completed and the speed profile updated yesterday in the early hours of the morning.

 

Are you still getting slower than expected speeds today?

Thanks for the replies again. When I tested last night, both wired and wireless, the speed was unchanged. As mentioned I rebooted the modem and router as well.

I will test again in a short while and let you know the result.

Just done a speedtest again and now showing as 72mb download (last night it was 32mb)! That is more like what i would expect.

Thanks for letting us know. I'm not sure why it didn't give you the increased speed right from the point of the order completing and the speed profile updating, but I'm glad to hear it's sorted now Smiley
