Unlimited Fibre Extra speed is atrocious

I upgraded my fibre from unlimited to unlimited Extra, hoping the speeds that were getting slower and slower would speed up. They did briefly, then went back to being super slow and inconsistent (Connection speed AND Ping). The number of times I have done a speed test with google et al. (even though I know traffic to them is given priority by broadband providers) and rebooted the router is becoming unacceptable. I need this fixed with the magic 'wrong profile' reason or a downgrade to the standard unlimited fibre contract as Extra is no better for me as it is. However, if all my Fibre experiences here are critically flawed ongoing I will have to leave and recommend others do so too.

Re: Unlimited Fibre Extra speed is atrocious

If there’s an issue on your line then you’d only take that with you as most (aside from virgin) use the same equipment.

I appreciate the response. But whatever Virgin is doing is not my problem I'm afraid. I'm talking to Plusnet! Let's get this sorted.

@RJ1000  have you done any basic troubleshooting?

Dial 17070 option 2, is the line quiet?

What speeds does your line support?  BT Broadband (btwholesale.com) post the results, hiding your phone number.

Post the results of the /advanced/troubleshooting/help desk tab - hide username and so on.

All tests I can do pass. Clear line, filter, router all good

Re: Unlimited Fibre Extra speed is atrocious

Whilst not as good as it could be, you should be getting decent speeds.

What did you do your speed test on?

If not on a directly wired device, have you tried that?

Your router has only been connected for 1 1/2hours, do you know why?

Re: Unlimited Fibre Extra speed is atrocious

I restarted it to get back on the internet. I find disconnecting and reconnecting helps because it puts me back to the top of the access list again with a fresh connection.

Google speedtest. Wired and wifi - same results ruling out interference or channel saturation.

Is there throttling applied to media or port types?

And again. Is someone working on this and that's why it's going down repeatedly?

have you tried raising a fault at https://faults.plus.net ?
It will run some checks for you - can be done on your mobile if your connection is down.

Re: Unlimited Fibre Extra speed is atrocious

Hi @RJ1000, I am sorry for the issues with your service.

I can see there has been a number of drops in connection this morning but testing hasn't detected what may be causing this.

If not already done so I would advise to get connected into the test socket and log a fault here should the issue persist.
