Unlimited Fibre Extra - End of week one - Poor speeds

From my Plusnet account I see:

Estimated line speed:80Mb (This may vary between 60Mb and 80Mb) - Checked on 2018-03-21 17:04:03

Current line speed:78 Mb

DSL line status on my router has shown 35.8Mbps downstream for most of the week, this morning  it is 33.15Mbps. 

Speedtest by Ookla shows 30.65 Mbps 

How long do I need to wait before raising a help ticket?

Welcome to the forum.

The 10 day training period you may have read about is a myth with respect to fibre. There is a problem somewhere so you need to do some basic tests to check if the problem is either with your set up or external to your property.  I have just been posting elsewhere with the following which will probably help you too:

Thanks for prompt response. Very pleasant and efficient Openreach chap has just been. Sorted out new master socket and reset profile. Speed now 44Mbps download on ethernet. A big improvement on the previous 31Mbps but not quite the minimum offered of 55Mbps. Master socket is the sole connect point in the house.

7. Maximum data rate: 16967 / 46957
8. Noise margin: 6.0 / 5.9
9. Line attenuation: 19.2 / 17.5
10. Signal attenuation: 19.1 / 17.5

 

Anything else that can be done?

Glad to hear the issue is on the way to being resolved. If the socket has only been replaced today, we recommend waiting 24 hours for the speeds to settle. If this time tomorrow you're still not hitting the Minimum Guaranteed Access Line Speeds, let us know and we can take another look!

Hi Ken.

As your router is in sync at a slower than expected speed and our tests aren't finding the cause of the problem, we'll need to arrange another engineer visit to further investigate.

I'll update your fault ticket here shortly.
