Unable to connect my samsung Smart TV to new fibre router (Wirelessly)

I've just had my fibre installed and changed over the router to the Technicolor 582 fibre router. My Samsung TV will not connect to the router wirelessly but does using an ethernet connection. Everything was fine with the old router.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this and get it back connecting via a wireless connection?

I'm going to suggest the obvious - just in case. Have you updated the ssid and security settings in the Tv?

Hi Tony,
Yes. It finds  the router no problem. I then enter my key exactly as it shows. It seraches for a min then comes up saying connection failed.

OK - I'd try
1 - removing security in the router (just short term as a test)
2 - Check the security type (WEP/WPA) matches what you had previously.
3 - that works, try re-enabling and using a simpler key

Re: Unable to connect my samsung Smart TV to new fibre router (Wirelessly)

I had something similar happen once on an old Samsung blu-ray player while trying to connect to the Be Thompson router. The way I got around it was to configure the connection on the player manually (assign an ip etc) rather than rely on DHCP. It's a bit of a faff, but worth a shot perhaps?

Eventually solved this . Samsung and Plusnet both very unhelpful to be honest! What I did was go into the router settings and delete the MAC address for the TV. I then went through the install  wireless procedure again on the TV and it has installed without any hassles whatsoever.

Hi nedster
Sorry we couldn't be of more help on this, unfortunately there are so many devices out there we have to draw the line with supporting them somewhere. Good to hear you got it working and removing the device from the router was a good idea.

That could be a useful step for anyone having connection issues with virtually any device, maybe one for support to all to their standard list since it's a router setting rather than a device setting.

Re: Unable to connect my samsung Smart TV to new fibre router (Wirelessly)

My Samsung UE40H 7000 last night lost its connection on my 2.4 Ghz network & point blank refused to reconnect. For some odd reason it is now happily connected to my 5 Ghz network & working better than ever. Bl***y computers! Roll_eyes
