The gateway effect

It seemed as if my connection was getting "slower", so I changed gateways at about 16:28 on 12 November; going from ptn-bng01 to pcl-ag04. The result is shown in the two 7-day SK graphs. First thoughts were that the gateway had a direct impact but it is probably more likely the BT routing from exchange to gateway - I'm assuming the onward path used by SK is the same, or that could also be a factor.
Additional information: my line syncs at 79997/19999 with a PN "current line speed" of 40Mbps (40/20 package). Between getting fibre and the "cap" being applied, SK was reporting about 72Mbps download.
