Sync speed reduction since power outage

Hi,

I have FTTC 80/20 and am lucky enough to have the cabinet a few doors away on my street so I normally have a very stable connection at the max sync speed possible .

However, after a short power outage on Monday morning the router will only sync at about 70Mb. Althouth this is still good, its never been this low. I called support who said the line is in a stabilization period for 10 days.  I'm aware there is a stabilization period for new ADSL lines, but not for FTTC that's been active for years ?

Any ideas / help would be appreciated.

Many thanks

I suspect that this is total hogwash! Two things to try:

First switch off the router for about half an hour. When you reconnect, with a bit of luck you should pick up a different Plusnet gateway, which might fix it..

If that doesn't work try a factory reset on the router by pushing a paperclip or similar into the reset hole in the router. Hold it in for 20-30 secondes. If it is a Plusnet router it should automatically set itself back up for you. Otherwise you will have to enter your user name and password from scratch as you did when you first installed the router.

Re: Sync speed reduction since power outage

Thanks for the post Baldrick1, already tried those. I'm yet to try another router. I know I have a spare somewhere.

Thanks again.

It may be worth rebooting the router to get a resync.

Re: Sync speed reduction since power outage

Thanks for posting the GEA Matthew. I'll try another resync and dig out a spare router if I don't have any luck.
