Switching off the router safely

Being from the age of Aquarius, I switch off my router at night to help save the planet. Twice in the last week this has resulted in no Internet connection when the router is switched back on. Plusnet easily fixes this - something about a stale session that needs clearing. Is there a way to switch off the router without causing this glitch? Perhaps by disconnecting from the Internet through the router web interface before switching off?

This should do the trick. Log in to the router using the username/password combination supplied on the card that came with the router. You should see a disconnect button, do the same when you reconnect.
