Re: Slow fibre extra

Thanks @diggerdr

Well they show your connection is not too bad at nearly 70Mbps..

What device are you having the problems with, and is it connected wired or Wi-Fi?

Do you have many other devices connected and running at the same time?

Re: Slow fibre extra

That is not good. Could you do me one more test on speedtest.net.

It looks like there is a congestion problem, so you would be best to get the fault reported so they can check and get you moved.

Re: Slow fibre extra

There seems to be a few people suffering the same problem, it is unfortunate that none of the staff members have seen your thread and intervened. Alas you may need to persevere until you get someone who can get it sorted.

@Gandalf  tagged in the hope he may be around to help.

Re: Slow fibre extra

@Mustrum Thank you i have seen gandalf had been very helpful with other people in the same situation. I believe it is just that the vlan needs changing but explaining this to the PN call centre resulted in me being told it is because i need to change the wireless channel regardless of the fact i explained im not using the wireless. Crazy2

Re: Slow fibre extra

I am guessing that CS did not have much of a clue, but maybe it worked for someone else, or is part of their script!

The staff that come on here are usually very good, but can be thin on the ground at times. If you have not already done so, you could try Twitter, that also seems to get some good results.

Re: Sudden speed drop fibre extra

I take 4 things from this and the other similar threads:

  • The individuals posting have problems with throughput at some times of day. Their issues are clear.
  • We are seeing more of these cases in the Forum recently (whether that is statistically significant is harder to say) which suggests (but does not confirm) a system wide issue.
  • Plusnet seem poor at diagnosing the underlying problem(s). CS people are reported as poorly informed when faced with these cases but staff who post here seem to have additional tools which have helped some.
  • But reporting though the Forum and hoping that the thread will be picked up is far from satisfactory as a way of addressing the problems being reported.

@MauriceC has picked this up as an issue for the Super Users to raise: good!!
