Stability Profile change

Is it possible to tell me what stability profile my line is currently set to as DLM doesn't seem to want to take off interleaving despite having low ES per day and no line drops. I think it might have been changed to STABLE as a first attempt when a reported a problem with line drops at the end of September. If it is can it be changed to STANDARD or even SPEED.

I am on a fibre FTTC connection about 950m from the cabinet. Starting at the end of September I had lots of problems with my connection dropping. It took a number of visits of a BT OR senior engineer who ultimately replaced about 300m of overhead line including the final dropwire. This new section of line has reduced downstream attenuation from 24.5db to 22.9db and there is a corresponding increase in speed 🙂

DL: 30.0M now 37.6M

UL: 4.76M now 4.93M

The line is has now been stable for a month with most resyncs either being DLM or me. All good apart from the interleaving, which I didn't have for  many months before the line fault (and maybe the negligible increase in UL speed)

Re: Stability Profile change

Fix

Thanks for your post @steve88

I'm really sorry for the issues you've had with your connection and I'm glad to see an engineer's efforts got things sorted.

I've placed an order to change the stability profile from Stable to Standard, which is the lowest it goes. This should start to take effect from Tuesday next week, but may take 7 to 14 days for DLM to react to the changes.

The speed profile you're referring to is Openreach's terminology for this. Taken from the Kitz website Here:

Stability Level WBC Profile (20/21CN) NGA Profile (FTTC) Description

1. Aggressive Standard Speed Prioritise speed over stability for online gamers
2. Normal Stable Standard Best overall balance between speed and stability
3. Stable Super Stable Stable Prioritise stability over speed for IPTV

'WBC Profile' refers to BT Wholesale's terminology and 'NGA Profile' refers to Openreach's.

Let us know how it goes. Smiley

Re: Stability Profile change

So here we are almost 3 weeks later and the profile change was successful.

Profile change occured early hours of 02 Dec 21.

DL speed went from 37.6M to 40M

UL speed went from 4.93M to 5.32M

Interleaving was removed so latency/delay dropped.

The line has been stable for the 2+ weeks since. Good result. Thanks @Gandalf
