Speeds Decimated & Then Returned To Normal?

Well that was very weird. My ds and us rates decimated below what they have been so I raised a fault on the advice of step 3 of the BTW checker and shortly afterwards my normal speeds resumed?

....And then they dropped right down again. I guess there is a problem.

Re: Speeds Decimated & Then Returned To Normal?

...And this morning they're normal again. Were there any kind of faults or outages last night?

Re: Speeds Decimated & Then Returned To Normal?

There's no outages showing in your area and there's no known capacity issues in your area.
I can see the issue is with our Faults team and we'll investigate further

Re: Speeds Decimated & Then Returned To Normal?

No one's looked at my ticket yet but I just found my ds speed had dropped right back to 40 from 75. Hopping gateways seems to have helped but I'm not sure how long that will last without running frequent speedtests. It seems to be an evening thing. Is this acceptable? When it drops like that the BTW Speedchecker says it isn't. If my ds is going to fluctuate wildly of an evening and pretty much 1/2 I may as well downgrade to standard 40/20 fibre.

Sorry to see this hasn't been picked up yet.
I'll pass this across to someone to make sure we get it picked up today.

Re: Speeds Decimated & Then Returned To Normal?

I will try the step3 test again tonight (with the issue occurring during peak times for PlusNet) but last night I couldn't get it to run when connected to the BT logon. I just hit 'page could not be displayed' Tried a few times.

Re: Speeds Decimated & Then Returned To Normal?

Apparently having my ds speed drop from 75 - 50 during peak times is normal and acceptable! Really!? 😮

Re: Speeds Decimated & Then Returned To Normal?

My 'Fibre Extra' service which gives throughput of 75 ds during the day and pretty much anything during peak times.

Re: Speeds Decimated & Then Returned To Normal?

Does no one else relate to this or have I been added to a global ignore list on the forum? It's just I'm aware of these as I run a forum myself. Maybe I haven't but it seems strange.
I updated my ticket with support. I had swapped my Technicolor fibre router out for a better TP-Link one still using the Openreach ECI modem for my fibre connection but swapping back to the PlusNet supplied one today to test things out my speeds are still decimated during peak times. Only getting 45 of the usual 75 at the moment. I'm starting to pull my hair out 😕 If such big fluctuations can occur during peak times does that mean if you're on standard fibre your ds can drop to 24 during peak times and so with me on Fibre Extra mine can drop to 45 or less? I'm just wondering whether it's worth paying for Fibre Extra?

Re: Speeds Decimated & Then Returned To Normal?

Are you using wifi or wired.
Try doing a speed test using Ethernet and see what speed you get.

Re: Speeds Decimated & Then Returned To Normal?

Hi, I'm only using ethernet/LAN with wireless disabled apart from when I occasionally want to update my Windows phone. I never run speedtests at those times though.

Sorry to hear your still having issues.
I'm having a look into this to see if there's anything we can do
