Is there a best time of day to disconnect (for testing)  vDSL, I seem to recall it was a "thing" back in the days of ADSL?

I asked about new modem in case a newer/better one would reduce any potential errors on the line, which might cause DLM to hold down the line speed.

Can I ask then, the recent 50Mbps download or so you've seen as of recent your side, was this over a wireless devices or wired? Also, was there anything running/downloading etc in the background upon running the speed test at all?
We look forwards to hearing back from you.

Thanks for reply BD.

I usually run speed testes wired when possible,

The 50Mbps figure is from the Member Centre -  Current line speed:50.8 Mb

I think the single drop may have been a router reboot, I will check later when I am home and confirm.

Re: Speed lower than Plusnet and BT Estimate

Ok, so drop was not a router reset.  There was a momentary electrical issue, which dimmed the lights etc for a split second recently, wonder if that was enough for the modem to drop.

I have just run a couple of speedtests -

Both run wired, with wireless on PC disabled.

No other devices in use at the same time.

No changes made to internal configuration yet.

Hi @vultura, thanks for your post.

Are you currently utilising the Openreach test socket?

Not at this time.

Doing that I will lose phone and there is a chance given time of year that I may receive incoming calls.

I had it in mind to perhaps try that tomorrow/friday as calls less likely then. I will also try the quiet line test suggested by Baldrick1 earlier in thread.

Re: Speed lower than Plusnet and BT Estimate

Hi @vultura,

You should be able to set the router up within the test socket alongside the landline phone, as the router will need to be plugged into a microfilter to connect to the test socket. For a guide on how this can be done, please click here.

Ok, shutdown connection at approx 2.20pm and conncted to master socket.  Good job I still had a filter from ADSL install.

Re-connected just a few mins ago.  Left it for almost an hour to avoid issues.

Edit: Forgot to mention that quiet line test came back clear using wired phone.

Thanks for reply.

You currently have no open questions.

I wonder if somewhere along the line accounts have been mixed up.

Re: Speed lower than Plusnet and BT Estimate

Hi @vultura,

Sorry about this, it appears that my colleagues have been looking at a different account. I've been able to find your actual account now. Testing your line isn't picking up the cause of the poor speeds so I've added my colleague's ticket to your account. You should be able to view this here - please let us know if this still doesn't work.

Thanks, I can view that fine.

I would be interested to know if the line stats posted by BD are mine or not.   If not then any chance of the same info for mine please?
